October has always held a special kind of magic for me. It’s a double birthday celebration – not only do I celebrate another journey around the sun, but I also celebrate the birthday of my beloved Halo Gaia Adventure Travel.
And this October, our sweet ship of dreams turns 27 years young!
Since 1999, Halo Gaia has been so much more than a business. She has been a journey of discovery, a labour of love, a home for kindred spirits and a beautiful expression of everything that makes my heart sing.
What magnificent years they have been!
More Than a Business, A Way of Life
When I look back over these 27 years, I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the experiences, people, and extraordinary encounters that have shaped this journey.
Halo Gaia was born from a deep love for nature, adventure, the ocean, and the belief that meaningful experiences have the power to transform us.
Over the years, she has grown into a community of like-minded, love-hearted, free-spirited explorers. A place where strangers become friends, stories are shared, hearts open, and connections are made that often last a lifetime.
From wild dolphin encounters and whale watching to soulful retreats, yoga, sound journeys, and simply being present in the beauty of Ponta Malongane, every experience carries a little of that original dream.
And through this wonderful channel, I get to meet you… and you… and you!
Each of you brings something special to this beautiful tapestry.
To the People Who Make the Magic Happen
To every beautiful soul who has graced these shores with your presence, your stories, your laughter, and your essence – thank you.
To the wonderful facilitators and wisdom keepers who share their gifts, hold space for transformation and weave such magic into our retreats – thank you for bringing your hearts and wisdom to this special place.
To the utterly wonderful Malongane Dive Centre and the extraordinary team I am privileged to call my colleagues and friends – thank you for the countless adventures, unwavering support and shared love for this incredible stretch of coastline.
And to everyone who has been part of Halo Gaia’s journey, whether for a day, a week or many years, you have helped shape her into what she is today.

And then, of course, there is the ocean.
Oh, this bright blue sea and all her magnificent creatures!
The whales, the reefs, the changing tides, the endless horizons, and those magical moments when nature reminds us just how extraordinary it is to be alive.
And to my beloved wild dolphin friends…
You have placed an eternal spell upon my heart.
After all these years, the wonder has never faded. Every encounter is a gift, every moment in your presence a reminder of the beauty, intelligence, and mystery of the natural world.
In your eyes, I see the pure love of creation and a gentle reminder of our humble place in this great circle of life.
Forever in awe. Forever grateful.

Twenty-seven years of ocean adventures. Twenty-seven years of friendships, discoveries, challenges, laughter, transformation, and unforgettable memories.
And still, the dream continues.
As we celebrate this birthday month, my wish is that Halo Gaia continues to be a welcoming home for those seeking adventure, connection, inspiration and a little more magic in their lives.
May we continue to explore with open hearts, tread gently upon this beautiful Earth, honour the wild creatures we share it with, and celebrate the simple joy of being alive.
